window US Kids Golf World Championships

Congratulations to Luke Harries, Rhys Pugh and Tim Harry on their performances at the US Kids Golf World Championships at Pinehurst recently.
All three qualified to play at the event in America by winning their respective age categories at the UK Final of the HSBC Wee Wonders competition.

Pictured left is Luke Harries, proudly flying the flag for Wales. Luke finished a very creditable 21st out of 84 in the Boys 6 and under category.

Meanwhile, Tim Harry finished as a very impressive runner-up in the Boys under 8 age group and Rhys Pugh an equally respectable 4th in the U12 category.

Well done to all three Welsh Wee Wonders.

Golf Development Wales has announced some new dates for the Golf Foundation Junior Leader Workshop training and also for the SportscoachUK Good Practice and Child Protection workshop training.

The first meeting between the two counties of Gwent and Gloucestershire at Under 16 and Under 14 level saw some see-saw matches played in excellent spirit over the Cotswold Hills course on the outskirts of Cheltenham for the U16's and at Monmouth Golf Club for the U14's.
Both age groups played exceptionally well, even though they both eventually lost.

Mon Mini Masters 2006
The third annual Mon Mini Masters took place on 31st july 2006, at Llangefni Golf Club, Anglesey.
Over 60 enthusiastic and energetic youngsters took to the fairways for this ever-increasing popular event on the Ynys Mon sporting calendar. For a further report and a list of the winners, please click here.

Faldo Mini-Series
If you are running a junior short course event before 11th September 2006 which involves children under 12 years old, register it with the Golf Foundation as a Faldo Mini Series event (conditions apply - click here for details) and the winners from your event will be eligible to go into a draw to win a chance to meet Nick Faldo. You can obtain an information sheet and registration form by clicking on the picture below. Once completed, simply return your registration form to:

It's easy to take part and it costs nothing, so register your event today and give the juniors taking part in your event the chance to meet Nick Faldo.

 
 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
DETAILS
To be eligible, events must take place before 11th September 2006.
Events must take place on a permanent par 3 or pitch and putt facility.
Retrospective registrations cannot be accepted.
The event can be of any format (gross, nett, flag, etc.).
Organisers can register an unlimited number of competitions, but a child can only qualify for the draw once.

MINIMUM STANDARDS
Events must be for children aged under 12
Events must be open to both boys and girls.
Events must be played over at least nine holes.
Events must involve a minimum of 20 participants.
Regarding child protection, the event organisers should adhere to the recommendations set out in the resource pack produced by the Children in Golf Strategy Group.
Organisers should ensure that the appropriate staff at the event are CRB checked.

PRIZE DRAW
To be eligible for the Prize Draw, children must be under 12 on 1st January 2006.
36 children (18 boys and 18 girls) will be selected at random.
The draw will take place in the week commencing 2nd October.
Those selected through the draw will be invited to meet Nick Faldo at the Faldo Series final at The Celtic Manor Resort in October.
