& I Curtis Cup Team Announced
The Curtis Cup team to play the U.S. at Bandon Dunes on 29
and 30 July 2006 has been announced and Wales will be represented
by Breanne Loucks.
Eighteen-year old Breanne is a member of Wrexham GC. She was
Runner-up in 2003 and 2004 of the Welsh Girls’ Championship
but the highlight of her career to date came when she finished
third at the 2006 Sherry Cup and reached the quarter finals
of the Spanish Amateur Championship (the only Briton to do
so) beating Anna Nordqvist in the process.
Congratulations to Breanne and her family and coaches.

WARRINER’S
ESTATE AGENTS MAKE IT A FOUR BALL!
A presentation made by the
newly appointed Sports Council for Wales’s council member
Hywel Meredydd took place at the Anglesey golf club Rhosneigr
on Monday 12th June. Warriner’s joined together with
Irish Ferries, Baynes & Son Haulage & National Westminster
Bank as sponsors to develop junior golf on Anglesey.
Following the successful bid
to bring the Ryder Cup to Wales in 2010, positive initiatives
by Golf Development Wales, the Ynys Môn Sports Development
Unit & the AGU’s County Junior Organiser, the above
sponsors have pledged a three year programme of funding to
develop & promote golf at junior levels for both boys
& girls on Anglesey. This year & for the 3rd consecutive
year the sponsors funding has been doubled by the Welsh Assembly
Government's Sportsmatch Cymru scheme. Hywel Meredydd was
very keen to applaud the sponsors & the initiatives of
the Anglesey Golfing Union junior section & the excellent
programme of events & schemes which includes mobile driving
ranges to use at schools & leisure centres, the continual
development of Tri-Golf with the highlight being the Mini-Môn
Masters under 12 golf event to be held at the Llangefni golf
course on July 31st.
The newly held, under 12’s, Handicap Reduction Camp
run by the PGA Professional Matthew Parry & further coaching
& support for the under 16 & under 18 girls &
boys county teams.
Along with Hywel Meredydd
from the Sports Council was Mr Neil Pringle Regional Manager
who supported the successful Sportsmatch bid, the Anglesey
Golfing Union President Mr Adrian Jones who introduced Mr
Allan Eaton, Chairman of the AGU Junior Development Committee
(Holyhead G.C.), Mr Gareth Jones Secretary of the AGU, Elizabeth
Youren of Baron Hill Golf Club who carries out all the administrative
duties of running the Sportsmatch scheme, & Matthew Parry,
Anglesey Golfing Union, PGA Development Coach.
Any young boys or girls under
12 years old interested in taking part in the Môn Mini
Masters (for handicap & non-handicapped players), or any

Golf Development
Wales ran a very successful junior development area at the recent
European Tour Wales Open at the Celtic Manor Resort.
With grateful support from the European
Tour and Factory
11, hundreds of children were given a basic introduction
to golf using the fun F11 challenge kit and Tri-Golf clubs (photos
below). |

Faldo
Mini-Series |

you are running a junior short course event before 11th September
2006 which involves children under 12 years old, register it
with the Golf Foundation as a Faldo Mini Series event (conditions
apply - click here for details) and the winners from your
event will be eligible to go into a draw to win a chance to
meet Nick Faldo. You can obtain an information sheet and registration
form by clicking on the picture below. Once completed, simply
return your registration form to:

It's easy to take part and it costs nothing,

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
DETAILS
To be eligible, events must take place before
11th September 2006.
Events must take place on a permanent par
3 or pitch and putt facility.
Retrospective registrations cannot be accepted.
The event can be of any format (gross, nett,
flag, etc.).
Organisers can register an unlimited number
of competitions, but a child can only qualify for the draw once.
MINIMUM STANDARDS
Events must be for children aged under 12
Events must be open to both boys and girls.
Events must be played over at least nine
holes.
Events must involve a minimum of 20 participants.
Regarding child protection, the event organisers
should adhere to the recommendations set out in the resource pack
produced by the Children in Golf Strategy Group.
Organisers should ensure that the appropriate
staff at the event are CRB checked.
PRIZE DRAW
To be eligible for the Prize Draw, children
must be under 12 on 1st January 2006.
36 children (18 boys and 18 girls) will be
selected at random.
The draw will take place in the week commencing
2nd October.
Those selected through the draw will be invited to meet Nick Faldo
at the Faldo Series final at The Celtic Manor Resort in October.
