Bath)
The first ever match for the Gwent Under 16 side saw them
playing Somerset at Saltford Golf Club near Keynsham.

to 2, with captain, Richard Bentham and Matteo Rossi, and
Luke Sandford and James Zanotti taking the wins for the
Gwent side.
The afternoon singles were drawn 4 to 4 giving the home
side a very narrow victory 8-7 in the match. The Gwent singles

The first ever Under 14 Championship was held over the Woodlake
Park course on a cold, wet and windy day that saw many retirements.
Winner on the day was Under 14 captain, Daniel Gizzi (Newport)
with a gross 91, one shot ahead of Andrew Harris (Dewstow)
and David Morgan (Pontnewydd) with 96. Winning the nett
prize on the day was eleven year old Alex Price (Llanwern),
with a nett 80.

Medal (12th April - Llandrindod Wells)
Gwent juniors took a clean sweep of the major prizes at
the Spring Medal at Llandrindod Wells with James Zanotti
(Llanwern) winning the gross with a 71 and Michael Griffiths
(Dewstow) taking the nett prize with a 76 gross nett 64

but the afternoon saw the Gwent fightback with excellent
wins for Julian Sansom, Robert Hardean, Daniel Gizzi, James
Munday and Jonathan Orum with a fighting half from Toby

Faldo
Series Success for Becky |
17
year-old Becky Harries, from Harverfordwest was a joint winner
in the Girl’s Under 18 section of this year's Faldo
Series at the Celtic Manor Resort recently. She tied with
16 year-old Hannah Barwood, from Bristol. Both young players
shot a level par score of 74 to take the top spot in their
category.
It seems fitting that the
first event of the Southwest England and South Wales region
should have been played at The Celtic Manor Resort, as the
club is the current home to the Faldo Series. Every player
in the field will hope to progress well in the region’s
remaining two tournaments and return to Celtic Manor for the
Faldo Series final 2006, which will be played at the resort
on the 4th - 6th of October.
