New Golf Rules and Etiquette DVD Resource

SWALEC and Golf Development Wales Join Forces to Launce Invaluable Teaching Aid

To support the ever-growing interest in golf and to increase participation in the sport at grassroots level in Wales, SWALEC and Golf Development Wales have joined forces to create and launch an interactive DVD resource that takes new junior players through the rules and etiquette unique to golf.
This invaluable hour-long learning resource, starring aspiring young Welsh golfers, offers helpful advice for those starting out in the game and provides entertaining question and answer sessions to make the learning process enjoyable and appealing.
Golf is essentially a self-regulating game and each golfer should have a good understanding of the fundamental Rules, which have existed for over 200 years. Similarly, it is essential that all juniors are made aware of the importance of etiquette at an early stage of their golf development to ensure play is enjoyable and safe.
Through its partnership with SWALEC, a leading power supplier to Welsh homes and businesses, Golf Development Wales has distributed a free copy of the DVD to all Golf Union affiliated clubs around Wales to help youngsters and other new members of the club community gain a solid foundation of knowledge.
Golf Development Wales was established as a result of Wales’ successful bid to host The 2010 Ryder Cup and aims to develop the sport in Wales and open it up to as wide an audience as possible and creating more opportunities for people to take up the sport.

Rules and etiquette are at the core of every good golf game and so it is essential that beginners are taught these values from the very beginning, making sure that they play in a safe and constructive manner. The DVD is a great resource as it enables those that are involved in developing the sport to introduce the rules and etiquette to beginners in a fun, entertaining and interactive way. With the support from SWALEC, it is fantastic that we have been able to take this advice in the form of a DVD into the local clubs at the heart of the golfing community.”

As well as this DVD, SWALEC sponsors one of Ryder Cup Wales’ Summer of Golf events - the SWALEC Wales Challenge - which takes place in July (23rd – 26th) at the Vale Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort , and the SWALEC Junior Challenge, the Welsh inter-club championship for players under the age of 19.
