Welsh Mini Masters
The Welsh Mini Masters is an open golf competition for players that are not members of a golf club or have recently joined a golf club but have not yet obtained a handicap of below 28.
Each qualifying round will be split into the following categories:-
• Male and female as at 1st September 2011
• Under 7
• 8 - 11
• 12 plus
The Final will take place at The Celtic Manor Resort on Tuesday 25th October.
Each player has the opportunity to raise sponsorship for Shelter Cymru. There are prizes for sponsorship raised.
The winner from each category at each qualifying round will qualify for The Final plus the top fundraising player from each qualifying round will also receive a special invitation.
The competition will be played over 9 holes at the following venues:
Welshpool Golf Club 28th July
Baron Hill Golf Club 29th July
Caerleon Golf Club 1st August
Rhondda Golf Club 2nd August
Carmarthen Golf Club 3rd August
Glyn Abbey Golf Club 5th August
Borth Golf Club 8th August
Clays Golf Club 9th August
Gnoll Country Park (Neath) 10th August
Each of these venues has received support from the Ryder Cup legacy fund and are perfect venues to be introduced to the game.
All equipment required to take part in the competition (clubs and balls) can be provided at the qualifying venue but players will have the opportunity to use their own equipment if they prefer.
Where possible in addition to the 9 hole competition there will be lots of additional skills tests including a putting competition and short game challenges.
