: WOMENS BEGINNER SCHEMES - 2008:

Golf Development Wales is continuing with its scheme of offering a series of subsidised lessons for groups of women interested in trying their hand at golf for the first time.

Generally, the schemes take the form below:

• Women invited to an Open day at the golf club and given basic introduction to the playing of the game.
• Then invited to attend 6 x 1-hour group lessons with the club professional.
• Following the 6 weeks, the women are then offered the chance to continue with a further 6 weeks of tuition with some form of temporary complimentray membership included in the fee for these lessons.
• The active support and involvement of the Clubs' Ladies section in the scheme has proved vital in terms of the ultimate success of coverting the interest of the participants into club membership.

These schemes and lessons have been easily oversubscribed, therefore we will be restricting the number of schemes to those clubs / facilities that adhere to the outline above. Keep checkng the website for details.
The timing of these schemes is important, as we wish to ensure that the women have some opportunity to continue to play the game after their series of lessons - therefore, the schemes have been timed to finish mid-summer when the weather and evening light are still favourable.
